90’s music was so fun!

So there I am trying to script out this pilot for a TV show I came up with when I noticed one of those premade playlists that iTunes has to sucker you in.  90’s One Hit Wonders?  Consider me suckered.  I started listening and was soon laughing at the memories these songs were conjuring.  For example:

(You need to have iTunes to follow the links)

  1. Whoomp (There It Is) - Tag Team
Reminds me of Beth and her horrible cheerleader music (I admit I listened to it just as much).
  2. One of Us - Joan Osborne
The guitar at the beginning of this gives me chills.  I remember being conflicted on whether this song was blasphemous or just plain amazing.  I think I decided on amazing.
  3. Sex and Candy - Marcy Playground
Reminds me of Tracy.  I remember her singing it and me thinking, “I can’t believe they are saying ’sex and candy’ on the radio (hey, I was very Mormon)” as well as, “I don’t think Tracy is singing the right lyrics.”
  4. The Freshmen - The Verve Pipe
Idaho roadtrip.  I only had, like, one mixed tape for the whole trip.  This was on it.  I listened to this song on repeat.
  5. Save Tonight - Eagle Eye Cherry
This was just a cool song.
  6. Breakfast at Tiffany’s - Deep Blue Something
Reminds me of Tracey Morgan.  Yeah, I had a huge crush on her in element….middl….high school.
  7. Standing Outside a Broken Phonebooth with Money In My Hand - Primitive Radio Gods
I think Leith had this song on a CD or something.  I don’t really remember how I first heard it.  Either way, it is still on my iPod.
  8. Your Woman - White Town
The best part was people trying to figure out if it was a guy or girl singing.
  9. Inside Out - Eve 6
“Heart in a blender” … Great line.
  10. Blue - Eiffel 65
Bev had this CD.  It got old.  I admit to listening to it, though.

So yeah, good stuff.
