dang, houses are expensive

I had a Brazilian home-away-from-homesick dream in which I stayed in a beachhouse in Peruibe. Since it is 30 degrees outside or so, waking up was a disappointment. I promptly went to the internet looking for beach houses in Peruibe. Since I didn’t find any in the five to ten dollar range, I am afraid they are out of my reach right now.

Last night my writer’s block lifted a bit. What I wrote wasn’t great but at least it was something and it was about six pages or so. It is still not completely finished, but meh, it was writing.

I am going to try for a documentary internship with the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. I think it would be in New York, but it might be in LA. Then again, it might be somewhere else. They pay enough for room and bored, which is good, because otherwise I’d be stuck doing interships in Birmingham – no cash, man. I might try to get an internship at Hunter Films in case the Emmys internship doesn’t pan out. I’ll ask my advisor next week.

The people finally came an installed my new DVD burner. It works great except its specs aren’t as good as my old drive. Instead of a 16X dual layer drive, it is an 8X single layer burner. What the…? Not that I ever bought 16X or dual layer disks, but I like to know I could if I wanted to. Punk Dell. At least that means I was able to burn those two weddings to DVD and am one step closer to getting them off my hard drive (and getting paid for them).

Speaking of getting paid, I did my taxes last night and the return is going to be huge! Thank goodness for high-paying internships, yet still being part of the working poor. I’ll have to buy new jeans, all mine are falling apart (and not in a cool vintage way, more like a hobo way).
