So, the hurricane is coming to kill us all.

The guy on FOX New channel was calling in from his cell phone from a bar on Bourbon Street. The report went something like this:

“I’m here on Bourbon Street where the daquaris are flowing and there are people here apparantly ignoring the Category 5 hurricane off the shore. You there, I’m with FOX News, why are you here?”

“None of your f@&*ing business.”

I applaude this guy to an extent. I am annoyed by holier-than-thou reporters who flaunt mandatory evacuations and then are condecending to those who have decided to do the same. I assume they conclude that they are providing a public service by showing the “true nature” of hurricanes, but in reality I think people see the footage (and the fact that the reporters are still alive) and assume that the hurricane isn’t nearly as bad as people say they are.

Guess what reporters, we don’t see you as authority figures anymore. You aren’t Cronkite and you never will be.

Interesting post. You were one of 7 people who linked to this image and racked up several thousand views. Flickr was not pleased!

I should mention that the photo was taken in Fort Lauderdale, FL and not Louisiana.
