a week in the life

I really, really meant to update this more frequently, but this has been quite the week of business with work and such. (Plus it wasn’t until this morning that I realized just how long I’ve been here).

Sadly, I think I have decided that I don’t really like LA. Sacrilege, I know. I can’t even really explain it. When I went to New York, it was crowded, dirty, and I loved every minute of it. Hollywood is cleanish (except the air), weather is great, people are nice, but if feel like I am suffocating.

It makes sense, but everything and everyone in Hollywood revolves around the entertainment industry. Like I said, it makes sense, but sometimes I just want to scream “Get a life!” to the dude with $300 jeans and $150 sunglasses walking down the street. Seriously, dude, seriously. What do you do with your time?

Then again, it is my day off and I am sitting in my apartment…doing nothing.

I have eaten at a couple of cool restaurants. Hollywood seems to be very erratic when it comes to prices. Places that look like they would be very expensive are reasonable and places that are wholly underwhelming (and not in a good way) cost and arm and a leg.

It took me three days to realize that I passed the Hollywood Bowl every morning. I just knew there was bad traffic there at times.

The Hollywood sign kinda has a Mt. Rushmore feel-cool, but identical to every picture you’ve ever seen of it. Just a sign on a hill. So, yeah. Hollywood is exactly like what you see on tv.

  1. You just realized how long you have been there?! Sheesh. I feel like you have been there forever already…

I enjoyed the phrase “wholly underwhelming (and not in a good way)” Sorry the places are playing mind games with you…but I have faith in your abilities to win…whatever that means.

And signs on hills are overrated. I prefer the ones at bus stops myself. That have the added bonus of graffiti.

  2. Go to the Getty. I promise, you will love it. It must be right up the freeway from you if you are staying in the Hollywood hills.

And have you been by the temple yet? It is ginormous! Take Santa Monica towards Beverly Hills, you won’t miss it.
