I had this big deeply thought-out post and was going to spell check it when I hit the wrong button and poof! it is gone. So I’ll just put the end. I was listening to The Simarillion at work (which was impossible after the first chapter) and there was a part that I thought amazing. The world of Middle-earth was created by spirits through song. These spirits thought water the most valuable substance on earth and so the creation song lingered in it. So, forever after the elves would spend long periods of time listening to the ocean not knowing for what they were listening.
