I’ve now been to all my classes except for the editing one.
I went to the African-American Literature class yesterday (it isn’t, as previously thought, African-American Womens Literature).
One of the black girls in the class looked around and said, “No offense, but why are there so many white people in this class.” That got more than a few chuckles.
One frat (white) kid in front of my answered a question and included the term “the white man.” Dude, dude, what are you doing? There were some groans from people in the class. I wonder how that is going to go.
I may not be the most experienced in race relations, but even I know to test the waters a bit more before cannonballing in like that.
