dry skin

Air conditioned rooms.

My job is to assist my boss with his day-to-day tasks so he has more time to focus on the more creative aspects of his job. By assuming these tasks, I’ve discovered how draining they actually can be. My creativity level has dropped a bit. When asked for a suggestion on a a story or shot, many times my answer ends up being…”um…I don’t know.” Not very helpful.

But as an up-and-coming director (such optimism there!), I need to find my balance. Back in college, I often rejected daily tasks completely (no suprise to anyone who looked at my bedroom) in order to focus entirely on creative work. This may have worked in college, but in the real world with bills (not that I really have those, yet) and home owners associations with little tolerance for overly tall lawns an adjustment will need to be made.

Creativity vs. Air Conditioned Rooms

Maybe I really have a one track mind. I can multi-task, but maybe I can multi-creative task or multi-organizational task only. For example: the company that I work for focuses generally on comedy. Hmm, my friends will tell you that I have moment of sheer hilarity. Yet here, I find myself unable to suggest the simplest jokes. I was worried that I had just lost it, yet when I went back to Tuscaloosa last week I was shooting out one liners left and right. Stress maybe?
